Founded in September of 2001, and registered as a non-profit organization in the province of Ontario, the CAST-UTECH Alumni Association (Ontario Chapter) is made up of a group of past students and friends of the University of Technology, Jamaica (UTECH), formerly known as The College of Arts Science and Technology (CAST). From the humble beginnings of 3 past students who were committed to the establishment of a chapter in Canada, we have grown to a network of friends and past students in excess of 300 strong.

Our Motto, *Building A Future Of Excellence Through Knowledge* is a clear indication of the group's commitment to the future, with links firmly established in the past, by the sharing of knowledge for the betterment of the Caribbean Region and its people through the delivery of quality education by the University of Technology, Jamaica. The affairs and programs of the Chapter is managed by a Board of Directors, elected from and by the membership at an Annual General meeting, all of whom work on a voluntary basis.

The Association was launched at its inaugural banquet held in Toronto, on April 13, 2002. Two individuals received awards in recognition of their contribution – a Lifetime Award for Outstanding Contribution to the UTech presented to Dr. Alfred W. Sangster O.J., first president of the University and the Distinguished Alumnus Award to Mr. Alvin Curling C.D., former Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to the Dominican Republic.

Each subsequent year the association presents its Distinguished Alumnus Award recognizing an alumnus of the university who have excelled in their respective field of study. Other awardees includes, Dr. Clifford G. Blake; Ms. Olive Steele; Mr. Anthony Sani; Prof Leroy DaCosta; Mr Bernard (Patrick) Lee, and Mrs Andrea Wilson in 2009.

2007 marked the association's 5th anniversary and a Lifetime Award for Outstanding Contribution to the UTech was presented to Dr. Rae Davis O.J., immediate past president of the University. UTech's Scholarship Coordinator and Financial Aid Officer, Mrs. Dottie M. Higgins was also recognized for her effort and dedication.

Each year, a number of educational scholarships and bursaries are awarded to students here in Ontario, Canada, and at UTech, Jamaica.

Today, our vision is expanded and realized through the generosity of our Alumni & friends of UTech.
