A scholarship is an award of access to an institution or a financial aid award for an individual (a "scholar") for the purposes of furthering their education. Our scholarships are awarded based on the criteria, which usually reflect the views or purposes of our association and institution.

¤ UTECH's Scholarships

CAST-UTECH Alumni Association (Ontario Chapter) made two contributions to scholarship funds at UTech in 2004. The first were five bursaries for 2003/2004 students, all of whom who could not afford to continue their program. All five recipients have since graduated with second class honours.
2003-2004 Awards

CAST-UTECH Alumni Association Ontario Chapter made their first contribution to UTECH' s scholarships fund on March 11 2004.

Bursaries were donated to five returning students, selected by the UTECH Selection Committee. Selection was based on academic qualifications, community service and need. This donation was in response to a special appeal from UTECH seeking help for returning students who could not afford to continue their program due to financial constraints.

The second contribution made in October 2004 of Cdn$5,000 was presented to UTech, for 2004/2005 students' scholarships.

2005-2006 Awards

Our annual Scholarship Fund was presented to UTech Jamaica in January of 2006 for 2005/2006 students' scholarships.

2006-2007 Awards

UTech was presented a cheque for $6,000 towards Our annual Scholarship Fund Award to UTech Jamaica in December of 2006 for 2006/2007 students' scholarships.

¤  Ontario's Scholarships

CAST-UTECH Alumni Association (Ontario Chapter), has embarked on planning a number of initiatives to encourage students of Caribbean decent to pursue tertiary education in Ontario.

Started in 2005, we have awarded four (4) scholarships and or bursaries to students of Caribbean background who were accepted into a tertiary institution here in Ontario.   With our sponsors, Jamaica National Money Transfer, Victoria Mutual Money Transfer, Victoria Mutual Building Society and Jamaica National Building Society in 2006, seven (7) scholarships were awarded to students meeting the afore mentioned criterias, and awarded bursaries totaling Eight Thousand dollars to eight students in 2007.Read more about Brunch

It is our goal each year to identify and award a number of scholarships from our scholarship fund to students meeting our criteria. We are currently accepting applications for the academic year 2010-2011. Note: Application for UTech Scholarships are accepted through the University Alumni Office.
