DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI AWARD

This award is given to highlight the achievements of past students of CAST or the University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech), who have made outstanding achievements in their respective fields of endeavour. In so doing, a greater recognition of CAST/UTech is created and emphasized as an institution of excellence, providing role models and mentors for present and future UTech students.

Recognition

The selected Distinguished Alumni Awardee(s) will be presented with a commerative plaque at the Annual Awards Banquet Function.

Qualifications for the Distinguished Alumni Award

To receive the Distinguished Alumni Award, the recipient must:

  • be a past student of CAST or the University of Technology who has been out of the college/university for at least five (5) years;

  • have selflessly given time, effort and talent to the betterment of the college/university/community/profession;

  • be, or have been in good standing in the community;

  • have demonstrated organizational leadership and high professional standards;

  • have had community involvement; and

  • have demonstrated commendable citizenship

A person may be awarded posthumously to recognize his lifetime achievements.

Procedure

  1. The executive body of the CAST-UTECH Alumni Association (Ontario Chapter) will appoint an Awards Selection Committee to be comprised as follows:

    a)    The President of the Chapter
    b)    Two other nominees from the executive body
    c)    A past awardee (Distinguished Alumni Awardee)

  1. The nomination forms will be distributed by the Awards Selection Committee to facilitate the nomination process. This will be guided by the timelines established by the Board of Directors.

  1. The nominees will provide Curriculum Vitae detailing professional and academic achievements, as well as any other notable achievements.

  1. The Awards Selection Committee will review the nominations and recommend the winner(s) to the Board of Directors.
  1. The decision of the Board of Directors will be final.

  2. The Awardee(s) will be invited to receive the award at the anniversary banquet
